2018 Glacial Hills Challenge Registration Is Open!

It may seem far off now, but the 2018 edition of the Glacial Hills Challenge is just a few months away!

Each summer, our friends at Fun Promotions, LLC help to put on a mountain bike race that attracts cyclists from all over the state and puts them on the fun, fast, and exciting trails we know and love. The race is a challenge for some of the best riders in the state, new riders, and everyone in between. That universal attraction is part of the excitement and camaraderie that makes the mountain bike community so close knit and supportive, and we love seeing faces come back year after year.

The event offers an incentive for racers, teams, and families to make the trip to Bellaire not just for race day. Many riders enjoy setting aside a weekend to pre-ride the course, often changing tires or other equipment to get their bikes dialed in just right for the race itself. During their trips, they'll enjoy patronizing our local establishments and falling in love with Northern Michigan. Events like these make the whole region a beloved destination, and those enthusiasts help us maintain the trails year-round, even if they only make the trip a few times each season.

New for this year, Glacial is a part of the the NMMBA Trail Series, a three-event celebration of Northern Michigan's favorite mountain bike trail networks that are protected and maintained by Northern Michigan Mountain Bike Association. Glacial sits dead in the middle of the trio of races, neatly spaced roughly a month after the Traverse City Trails Festival on July 21, and a month before Bear Claw Epic at Cadillac Pathway on September 22.

Make sure you've got August 19th cleared on the your calendar and test your abilities against our world-class trails here in Bellaire! Registration is open online, and will also be available day-of.

If you're planning on getting in some training miles, consider donating to the cause and joining NMMBA as a member. Your voice and support will help the Friends of Glacial Hills offer a quiet and enjoyable non-motorized experience for generations to come!
